10,000 Steps

Instead
of counting the time that you walk, another method is
counting the steps, the surgeon general states to walk or
exercise at least 30 minutes a day, walking 10,000
steps is equivalent to working out 30 to 45
minutes. You probably are thinking who in the world wants to
count to 10,000 while exercising well you don't have to,
there are handy, fairly inexpensive tools called pedometers
that will count the steps for you. All you have to do is
attach it to you pants or belt clip and go. You probably
should wear the pedometer for a while to get a feel for it
and to get an idea of how long you need to walk, the idea is
that it is very small so you can wear it under you clothing
thought out the day. Here is something to go by most
inactive people walk 2,000 to 4,000 steps a day. Moderately
active people walk 5,000 to 7,000 steps a day and active
people walk 10,000 plus steps a day. After
you start to get comfortable with your exercise than will
want to increase your walking to meet different goals, here
are a few things you can do:

Walk the
dog
·
Park in
the furthest parking spot at work
·
Take the
stairs instead of the elevator
·
When
shopping walk around and window shop before you
purchase
There
are many things that you can do to increase you activity,
you just have to be creative and motivated to lose the
weight, don't just do it for a couple days you must start
thinking of it as a lifestyle change. Remember we are only
capable of doing things so long getting fit will allow you
to do the things you love longer, an inspiration I use is my
family I want to be around a long time to watch my family
grow. We are only here with limited time, get off the couch
and get healthy. If you like TV, find a gym with TV’s and
enroll in a membership who said that you have to be sitting
to watch TV, and the biggest excuse that I hear is no time,
well by altering a few things in your daily schedule is not
a big deal, maybe it is going to bed an hour early to get up
and go walk or jog, the point is you have to be
willing to work hard and change. Losing the weight is
the easy part maintaining it is the lifestyle, create good
habits and lose the weight.
